About the position

The person will be responsible for assisting the IT manager in administering and maintaining critical IT services including Systems, applications, and network infrastructure, so that the business can operate effectively and efficiently.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

 

 For appointment to this post, a candidate must have;

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate(CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Certified Unix Administrator and any additional relevant ICT certifications

HARDWARE

  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading hardware
  • Maintenance of computers peripherals, printer, internet & e-mail, security, data backup and recovery
  • Troubleshoot Hardware problems, diagnosing and Replace parts as required.
  • Develop Flow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system.
  • Interfacing of Laboratory equipment’s to Lancet Laboratory Information Systems(Meditech) and ensuring that data is directly transferred from the Analysers to Meditech to avoid transcription errors in medical results. Also, follow-up on interfacing of systems with clients and partners.
  • Conducting electrical and safety inspections for computer equipment
  • Follow up on maintenance support IT system at Head Office and Branches
  • Configure and install telephone extensions and associated terminal equipment.
  • Perform all work associated with the maintenance, testing, alignment, modification and operation of telephones, mobile, tablets, satellite and audio-visual equipment to support the operational communication requirements of the organization.
  • Assist with documentation of Communications systems and inventory such as simple moves, adds and changes.

SOFTWARE

  • Install and configure operating systems, applications, Antivirus and run regular updates.
  • Install software, and update antivirus at both head office and branches
  • Set up new users' accounts and profiles and deal with password issues
  • Carrying out daily /weekly/monthly procedures such as Running back-up on Meditech Servers, Setting Print Sites, Routes, Line classes, Running Management Reports to confirm that no unprinted reports are hanging on the system & Refresh the Mail Server to ensure that all reports are delivered to doctors via email
  • Ensuring that Network resources are available to users including Setting up new Users Accounts Profiles, granting access to Intranet and internet services and dealing with Password Issues
  • Ensure that desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems such as Scripting PC, fax Servers, Email Servers, Meditech Servers, nYna, POC HMIS, Scubed, LogicalDoc, Claims, Claxom, LogisOnline, Collaborator, Navex, Sage, Qcontact, Office 365 and administrative systems.

NETWORKING

  • Designing and planning the network
  • Configuring and installing various network devices and services,
  • Monitoring performance and ensuring system availability, monitoring system resource utilization,
  • Investigating faults in network, securing networks, arranging scheduled upgrades and updating network equipment
  • Identifying and solving any problems that arise with computer networks and systems.
  • Consulting with clients to specify system requirements and design solutions.
  • Ensure partners systems are accessible on the organisation’s network (Smart, M-Tiba, Slade, Safaricom etc)
  • Ensures security of data, network programs and backup systems
  • Liaise with ISP & Telecommunications carriers/third party providers in relation to the monitoring and escalation of reported faults to ensure operational communications are maintained with minimal disruption to users.

USER SUPPORT

  • Talk staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
  • Follow up on maintenance support for IT system at Head Office and Branches
  • Respond within agreed time limits to call-outs & Work continuously on a task until completion.
  • Resolve issues immediately or log and escalate as appropriate.
  • To support and advise on downtime procedures and business continuity to ensure that they are
  • adopted successfully in their allocated local work area.
  • To ensure that all system and process issues and incidents are logged and tracked on CLAIMS
  • Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software resources & Maintain log

TRAINING

  • Provide orientation and training to new users of existing applications, systems & technology.
  • Support the roll-out of new applications and Train users on using new systems/applications.
  • Drafting IT instructional manuals, and other relevant documentation.
  • Administering regular, detailed needs assessments to identify IT skills deficits.
  • Train clients/doctors and partners on use of Path portal and Mobile Apps and other related applications
  • Addressing skills deficits through tailored in-house training.
  • Coordinating external training as the need arises.
  • Upholding confidentiality, unless legally mandated to do otherwise.
